I saw this repost earlier today and it shattered my heart.
Wonder how long it will take for some champion anon to chime in with “well you should be lucky anyone even cares about ur art” or “its on the internet so it’ll be reposted, deal with it”.
No.
There is no excuse for reposting art and it is perfectly reasonable for an artist to want credit, whether they draw fanart, sketches, official art, commercial art, art you like, art you don’t like, photos, cosplay, writing, literally anything.
Stop reposting art, please.
I am begging you. Stop.
Seriously. For most artists, posting their art online leads to freelance opportunities. If you don’t credit the artist how are they supposed to get those opportunities to further develop their art and make money.

I don’t know if this is the case with every artist butmost artists like to see the feedback their getting for their art whether it’s positive or a critique. And they enjoy getting acknowledged for the hard work they’ve put into that piece.Please always tag any art you post!

I haven’t been in this bad of a situation before but I know what it’s like to watch someone’s repost of my art (directly from tumblr, no credit) go by on my dash several times gaining hundreds of notes as I sit there powerless to stop it.
It’s rude, it’s irresponsible, and it’s disrespectful as hell.
… The first post was posted first so it’s reasonable that it got more views. It’s been on tumblr longer. There also appears to be a source link. So they gave credit. Personally, I would be glad to know people like the art I created and if someone can get it out there faster than I could, then by all means, share my art. However, there are artists that don’t want their artwork shown anywhere but where they put it and that has to be respected. That being said, if you’re really terrified about having your art posted where you don’t want it, put a sig or a watermark on it and keep the original where only you can access it… Just see both sides of things before blowing up. They didn’t see this picture on tumblr so they probably thought of sharing it with their many viewers, hoping that others might click the source link… or they could be art thieves.
A few other notes: 1. This is fanart. 2. Talk to the person that offended you before painting them as a villain. It could be a misunderstanding.
